CData continually improves its products. Therefore, as a best practice, you should always run the latest version of CData API Server to maximize performance, stability, and compatibility with online services.

Whether you run API Server as the embedded application or as a service, follow these steps to upgrade:

1. Stop the API Server application or service. For details, see the instructions in Configuration.

2. Download the latest version of API Server.

3. Preserve your settings and drivers by following these steps:

   1. Extract the archive to a temporary directory.

   2. Copy the apiserver.jar file to the base folder of your API Server installation directory and overwrite the existing file.

   3. Copy webapp/apiserver.war to the webapp folder of your API Server installation directory and overwrite the existing file.

4. Restart the application or service.
