CData continually improves its products. Therefore, as a best practice, you should always run the latest version of CData API Server to maximize performance, stability, and compatibility with online services.

If you run API Server using the embedded application or as a service, follow these steps to upgrade:

1. Stop the API Server application or service. For details, see the instructions for your particular edition of API Server (.NET or Cross-Platform).

2. Download the latest version of API Server.

3. Install the application.

   • For the .NET edition, run the setup file and install it to the existing directory.

   • For the Cross-Platform edition, follow these steps to preserve your settings and drivers:

     1. Extract the archive to a temporary directory.

     2. Copy the apiscript.jar file to the base folder of your API Server installation directory and overwrite the existing file.

     3. Copy webapp/apiscript.war to the webapp folder of your API Server installation directory and overwrite the existing file.

4. Start the application or service.
