Querying with the DataReader
The CData ADO.NET Provider for Confluence implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Confluence: ConfluenceDataAdapter and ConfluenceDataReader objects. Whereas ConfluenceDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, ConfluenceDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the ConfluenceDataReader
The ConfluenceDataReader retrieves data faster than the ConfluenceDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the ConfluenceDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Pages table:
C#
string connectionString = "User=admin;APIToken=myApiToken;Url=https://yoursitename.atlassian.net;Timezone=America/New_York;"; using (ConfluenceConnection connection = new ConfluenceConnection(connectionString)) { ConfluenceCommand cmd = new ConfluenceCommand("SELECT * FROM Pages", connection); ConfluenceDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); while (rdr.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["Key"], rdr["Name"])); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "User=admin;APIToken=myApiToken;Url=https://yoursitename.atlassian.net;Timezone=America/New_York;" Using connection As New ConfluenceConnection(connectionString) Dim cmd As New ConfluenceCommand("SELECT * FROM Pages", connection) Dim rdr As ConfluenceDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() While rdr.Read() Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("Key"), rdr("Name"))) End While End Using
