Querying with the DataReader
The CData ADO.NET Provider for Streak implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Streak: StreakDataAdapter and StreakDataReader objects. Whereas StreakDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, StreakDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the StreakDataReader
The StreakDataReader retrieves data faster than the StreakDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the StreakDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Users table:
C#
string connectionString = "ApiKey=8c84j9b4j54762ce809ej6a782d776j3;"; using (StreakConnection connection = new StreakConnection(connectionString)) { StreakCommand cmd = new StreakCommand("SELECT * FROM Users", connection); StreakDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); while (rdr.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["UserKey"], rdr["Email"])); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "ApiKey=8c84j9b4j54762ce809ej6a782d776j3;" Using connection As New StreakConnection(connectionString) Dim cmd As New StreakCommand("SELECT * FROM Users", connection) Dim rdr As StreakDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() While rdr.Read() Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("UserKey"), rdr("Email"))) End While End Using
