JDBC Driver for SQL Server

Build 25.0.9434

Encrypt

Specifies whether to enable TLS/SSL encryption for the connection to SQL Server.

Possible Values

True, False, Strict

Data Type

string

Default Value

"False"

Remarks

This property controls whether the provider uses TLS/SSL encryption when establishing a connection with SQL Server. Encryption protects data in transit and helps meet compliance or security requirements.

Accepted values:

  • False: Disables TLS/SSL encryption.
  • True: Enables TLS/SSL encryption. The driver attempts to verify the server's certificate using the system's trusted certificate store.
  • Strict: Enables TLS/SSL encryption and enforces stricter security standards. This mode requires that the server's certificate be fully validated and uses stronger protocols that are more compatible with modern network appliances and security policies.

If encryption is enabled and you need to specify a custom trusted certificate, use the SSLServerCert property.

This property is useful for securing database traffic between the client and SQL Server.
