Establishing a Connection

Configure a Connection Profile

From the CData ribbon, click Get Data and select From SQL Server to launch the CData Query window. To setup your connection, you will have to click the Select button. Here you can set the connection settings, test the connection, and save the connection profile.

Connecting to SQL Server

Specify the following conneciton properties to connect to SQL Server:

  • Server: The name or network address of the computer running SQL Server.
  • Database: The name of the SQL Server database to connect to. If unspecified, the default database will be used.

Authenticating to SQL Server

You can authenticate to SQL Server using either Windows Authentication or SQL Server authentication.

Authenticating with Windows Authentication

To authenticate with Windows Authentication, set the following to authenticate:

  • IntegratedSecurity: Set this to true to enable the add-in to obtain login credentials automatically from the identity of the windows user running the process.

Authenticating with SQL Server Authentication

Alternatively, you can authenticate with your SQL Server user login credentials:

  • User: The username of the SQL Server user.
  • Password: The password of the SQL Server user.
