Power BI Gateway

This topic describes how to install the Power BI Gateway, which is used to publish and refresh semantic models that incorporate custom data connectors such as the CData Power BI Connector for Google Sheets. To publish and refresh semantic models, you must install Power BI Desktop and have an active Power BI account with a "Pro" license or above.

Install and Configure the Gateway

The Power BI Gateway desktop application integrates with the CData Power BI Connector for Google Sheets to form the local half of the bridge between your Google Sheets data and powerbi.com.

For setup steps for the Power BI Gateway desktop application, see Install and Configure the Gateway.

Publish a Semantic Model

Before you can set up the online half of the bridge between your Google Sheets data and powerbi.com, you must Publish a Semantic Model that uses the Google Sheets connector.

Create and Refresh a Gateway Connection

To complete the bridge between your Google Sheets data and powerbi.com, create a Power BI Gateway connection. You can then refresh the data as needed. For more information, see Create and Refresh a Gateway Connection.
