Getting Started

Connecting to Salesforce

Establishing a Connection shows how to authenticate to Salesforce and configure any necessary connection properties. You can also configure provider capabilities through the available Connection properties, from data modeling to firewall traversal. The Advanced Settings section shows how to set up more advanced configurations and troubleshoot connection errors.

Connecting from Visual Studio

The CData ADO.NET Provider for Salesforce provides a seamless integration with Microsoft Visual Studio. The provider is registered as an ADO.NET provider with Visual Studio, allowing for integration with visual designer tools, Server Explorer, and ADO.NET data source configuration wizards.

Visual Studio Version Support

The CData ADO.NET Provider for Salesforce supports Visual Studio versions 2012 and above.

.NET Version Support

The CData ADO.NET Provider for Salesforce supports .NET Framework 4.0 and above as well as .NET Standard 2.0.

Salesforce Version Support

The provider requires the Web Services API. The Web Services API is supported natively by Salesforce Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions. The Web Services API may be enabled on Professional Edition at an additional cost by contacting Salesforce. The provider defaults to version 58.0 of the Salesforce API. Later or earlier versions can be specified in the APIVersion property.
