Establishing a Connection
Configure a Connection Profile
From the CData ribbon, click Get Data and select From Dropbox connection/s to launch the CData Query window. To setup a new connection, you will have to click the New Dropbox Connection button. Here you can set the connection settings, test the connection, and save the connection profile.
Connecting to Dropbox
Dropbox uses the OAuth authentication standard.
Dropbox OAuth Scopes
You need to choose between using CData's embedded OAuth app or Creating a Custom OAuth App.
The enabled scopes of the connecting OAuth app determine which tables, views, and stored procedures are accessible using the add-in.
Specifically, the embedded OAuth app lacks the scopes required to access certain views (namely Events, and Teams, TeamMembers) and a stored procedure (DeletePermanently). To access these, you need to create your own custom app and grant the following permissions:
- team_info.read
- files.permanent_delete
- members.read
- groups.read
- team_data.member
- events.read
Desktop Applications
CData provides an embedded OAuth application that simplifies OAuth desktop Authentication. Alternatively, you can create a custom OAuth application. See Creating a Custom OAuth App for information about creating custom applications and reasons for doing so.Get and Refresh the OAuth Access Token
After setting the following, you are ready to connect:
- OAuthClientId (custom applications only): Set this to the client Id assigned when you registered your app.
- OAuthClientSecret (custom applications only): Set this to the client secret assigned when you registered your app.
- CallbackURL (custom application only): Set this to the redirect URI defined when you registered your app. For example: https://localhost:3333
Connection Properties
The Connection properties describe the various options that can be used to establish a connection.
Managing Connections
