ADO.NET Provider for JD Edwards

Build 26.0.9771

Querying with the DataAdapter

The CData ADO.NET Provider for JD Edwards implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from JD Edwards: JDEdwardsDataAdapter and JDEdwardsDataReader objects. Whereas JDEdwardsDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, JDEdwardsDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.

Using the JDEdwardsDataAdapter

Use the adapter's Fill method to retrieve data from the data source. An empty DataTable instance is passed as an argument to the Fill method. When the method returns, the DataTable instance is populated with the queried data. Note that the JDEdwardsDataAdapter is slower than the JDEdwardsDataReader because the Fill method needs to retrieve all data from the data source before returning.

The following example selects the DocumentNumber and Amount columns of the AccountsPayable.AccountLedger table:

C#

string connectionString = "URL=https://your-jde-environment-app.example.com;User=admin;Password=myPassword;";

using (JDEdwardsConnection connection = new JDEdwardsConnection(connectionString)) {
  JDEdwardsDataAdapter dataAdapter = new JDEdwardsDataAdapter(
  "SELECT DocumentNumber, Amount FROM AccountsPayable.AccountLedger", connection);

  DataTable table = new DataTable();
  dataAdapter.Fill(table);

  Console.WriteLine("Contents of AccountsPayable.AccountLedger.");

  foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) {
    Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row["DocumentNumber"], row["Amount"]);
  }
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As String = "URL=https://your-jde-environment-app.example.com;User=admin;Password=myPassword;"

Using connection As New JDEdwardsConnection(connectionString)
  Dim dataAdapter As New JDEdwardsDataAdapter("SELECT DocumentNumber, Amount FROM AccountsPayable.AccountLedger", connection)

  Dim table As New DataTable()
  dataAdapter.Fill(table)

  Console.WriteLine("Contents of AccountsPayable.AccountLedger.")

  For Each row As DataRow In table.Rows
    Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row("DocumentNumber"), row("Amount"))
  Next
End Using
