Querying with the DataReader
The CData ADO.NET Provider for Zoho Inventory implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Zoho Inventory: Zoho InventoryDataAdapter and Zoho InventoryDataReader objects. Whereas Zoho InventoryDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, Zoho InventoryDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the Zoho InventoryDataReader
The Zoho InventoryDataReader retrieves data faster than the Zoho InventoryDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the Zoho InventoryDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Contacts table:
C#
string connectionString = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;OrganizationId=YourOrganizationId;"; using (Zoho InventoryConnection connection = new Zoho InventoryConnection(connectionString)) { Zoho InventoryCommand cmd = new Zoho InventoryCommand("SELECT * FROM Contacts", connection); Zoho InventoryDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); while (rdr.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["Id"], rdr["CustomerName"])); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;OrganizationId=YourOrganizationId;" Using connection As New Zoho InventoryConnection(connectionString) Dim cmd As New Zoho InventoryCommand("SELECT * FROM Contacts", connection) Dim rdr As Zoho InventoryDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() While rdr.Read() Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("Id"), rdr("CustomerName"))) End While End Using
