Querying with the DataReader
The CData ADO.NET Provider for Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM: OracleSCMDataAdapter and OracleSCMDataReader objects. Whereas OracleSCMDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, OracleSCMDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the OracleSCMDataReader
The OracleSCMDataReader retrieves data faster than the OracleSCMDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the OracleSCMDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Carriers table:
C#
string connectionString = "Url=https://abc.oraclecloud.com;User=user;Password=password;"; using (OracleSCMConnection connection = new OracleSCMConnection(connectionString)) { OracleSCMCommand cmd = new OracleSCMCommand("SELECT * FROM Carriers", connection); OracleSCMDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); while (rdr.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["CarrierId"], rdr["CarrierId"])); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "Url=https://abc.oraclecloud.com;User=user;Password=password;" Using connection As New OracleSCMConnection(connectionString) Dim cmd As New OracleSCMCommand("SELECT * FROM Carriers", connection) Dim rdr As OracleSCMDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() While rdr.Read() Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("CarrierId"), rdr("CarrierId"))) End While End Using
