ADO.NET Provider for Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials

Build 23.0.8839

Querying with the DataReader

The CData ADO.NET Provider for Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials: OracleERPDataAdapter and OracleERPDataReader objects. Whereas OracleERPDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, OracleERPDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.

Using the OracleERPDataReader

The OracleERPDataReader retrieves data faster than the OracleERPDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the OracleERPDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Invoices table:

C#

string connectionString = "Url=https://abc.oraclecloud.com;User=user;Password=password;";

using (OracleERPConnection connection = new OracleERPConnection(connectionString)) {
  OracleERPCommand cmd = new OracleERPCommand("SELECT * FROM Invoices", connection);

  OracleERPDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader();

  while (rdr.Read()) {
    Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["InvoiceId"], rdr["InvoiceId"]));
  }
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As String = "Url=https://abc.oraclecloud.com;User=user;Password=password;"

Using connection As New OracleERPConnection(connectionString)
  Dim cmd As New OracleERPCommand("SELECT * FROM Invoices", connection)

  Dim rdr As OracleERPDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()

  While rdr.Read()
    Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("InvoiceId"), rdr("InvoiceId")))
  End While
End Using
