JDBC Driver for EnterpriseDB

Establishing a Connection

Creating a JDBC Data Source

You can create a JDBC data source to connect from your Java application, based on CData JDBC Driver for EnterpriseDB.

Follow these steps:

  1. Add the driver JAR file to the classpath. The JAR file is located in the installation directory's lib subfolder. Ensure that the .lic file is located in the same folder as the JAR file.
  2. Provide the driver class. For example:
    cdata.jdbc.enterprisedb.EnterpriseDBDriver
  3. Provide the JDBC URL. For example:
    jdbc:enterprisedb:User=postgres;Password=admin;Database=postgres;Server=127.0.0.1;Port=5444

Or, if there is a conflict in your application between drivers using the same URL format, use this form to ensure that you are using the CData driver:

    jdbc:cdata:enterprisedb:User=postgres;Password=admin;Database=postgres;Server=127.0.0.1;Port=5444

Ensure that the URL starts with either jdbc:enterprisedb: or jdbc:cdata:enterprisedb:. The URL can include any of the connection properties in name-value pairs separated with semicolons.

Connecting to EnterpriseDB

The following connection properties are required in order to connect to data.

  • User: The user which will be used to authenticate with the EnterpriseDB server.
  • Password: The password which will be used to authenticate with the EnterpriseDB server.
  • Server: The host name or IP of the server hosting the EnterpriseDB database.
  • Port: The port of the server hosting the EnterpriseDB database.

You can also optionally set the following:

  • Database: The default database to connect to when connecting to the EnterpriseDB Server. If this is not set, the user's default database will be used.
