ADO.NET Provider for ShipStation

Build 23.0.8839

Querying with the DataReader

The CData ADO.NET Provider for ShipStation implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from ShipStation: ShipStationDataAdapter and ShipStationDataReader objects. Whereas ShipStationDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, ShipStationDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.

Using the ShipStationDataReader

The ShipStationDataReader retrieves data faster than the ShipStationDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the ShipStationDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Tags table:

C#

string connectionString = "APIKey='YourAPIKey';APISecret='YourAPISecret'";

using (ShipStationConnection connection = new ShipStationConnection(connectionString)) {
  ShipStationCommand cmd = new ShipStationCommand("SELECT * FROM Tags", connection);

  ShipStationDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader();

  while (rdr.Read()) {
    Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["Id"], rdr["Color"]));
  }
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As String = "APIKey='YourAPIKey';APISecret='YourAPISecret'"

Using connection As New ShipStationConnection(connectionString)
  Dim cmd As New ShipStationCommand("SELECT * FROM Tags", connection)

  Dim rdr As ShipStationDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()

  While rdr.Read()
    Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("Id"), rdr("Color")))
  End While
End Using
