ADO.NET Provider for Azure DevOps

Build 22.0.8462

Querying with the DataAdapter

The CData ADO.NET Provider for Azure DevOps implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Azure DevOps: AzureDevOpsDataAdapter and AzureDevOpsDataReader objects. Whereas AzureDevOpsDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, AzureDevOpsDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.

Using the AzureDevOpsDataAdapter

Use the adapter's Fill method to retrieve data from the data source. An empty DataTable instance is passed as an argument to the Fill method. When the method returns, the DataTable instance is populated with the queried data. Note that the AzureDevOpsDataAdapter is slower than the AzureDevOpsDataReader because the Fill method needs to retrieve all data from the data source before returning.

The following example selects the Id and BuildNumber columns of the Builds table:

C#

string connectionString = "AuthScheme=Basic;Organization=MyAzureDevOpsOrganization;ProjectId=MyProjectId;PersonalAccessToken=MyPAT;";

using (AzureDevOpsConnection connection = new AzureDevOpsConnection(connectionString)) {
  AzureDevOpsDataAdapter dataAdapter = new AzureDevOpsDataAdapter(
  "SELECT Id, BuildNumber FROM Builds", connection);

  DataTable table = new DataTable();
  dataAdapter.Fill(table);

  Console.WriteLine("Contents of Builds.");

  foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) {
    Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row["Id"], row["BuildNumber"]);
  }
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As String = "AuthScheme=Basic;Organization=MyAzureDevOpsOrganization;ProjectId=MyProjectId;PersonalAccessToken=MyPAT;"

Using connection As New AzureDevOpsConnection(connectionString)
  Dim dataAdapter As New AzureDevOpsDataAdapter("SELECT Id, BuildNumber FROM Builds", connection)

  Dim table As New DataTable()
  dataAdapter.Fill(table)

  Console.WriteLine("Contents of Builds.")

  For Each row As DataRow In table.Rows
    Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row("Id"), row("BuildNumber"))
  Next
End Using
