Querying with the DataReader
The CData ADO.NET Provider for Bullhorn CRM implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Bullhorn CRM: BullhornCRMDataAdapter and BullhornCRMDataReader objects. Whereas BullhornCRMDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, BullhornCRMDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the BullhornCRMDataReader
The BullhornCRMDataReader retrieves data faster than the BullhornCRMDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the BullhornCRMDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Candidate table:
C#
string connectionString = "DataCenterCode=CLS33;OAuthClientId=myoauthclientid;OAuthClientSecret=myoauthclientsecret;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;"; using (BullhornCRMConnection connection = new BullhornCRMConnection(connectionString)) { BullhornCRMCommand cmd = new BullhornCRMCommand("SELECT * FROM Candidate", connection); BullhornCRMDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); while (rdr.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["Id"], rdr["CandidateName"])); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "DataCenterCode=CLS33;OAuthClientId=myoauthclientid;OAuthClientSecret=myoauthclientsecret;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;" Using connection As New BullhornCRMConnection(connectionString) Dim cmd As New BullhornCRMCommand("SELECT * FROM Candidate", connection) Dim rdr As BullhornCRMDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() While rdr.Read() Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("Id"), rdr("CandidateName"))) End While End Using
