Querying with the DataAdapter
The CData ADO.NET Provider for Sage 300 implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Sage 300: Sage300DataAdapter and Sage300DataReader objects. Whereas Sage300DataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, Sage300DataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the Sage300DataAdapter
Use the adapter's Fill method to retrieve data from the data source. An empty DataTable instance is passed as an argument to the Fill method. When the method returns, the DataTable instance is populated with the queried data. Note that the Sage300DataAdapter is slower than the Sage300DataReader because the Fill method needs to retrieve all data from the data source before returning.
The following example selects the InvoiceUniquifier and ApprovedLimit columns of the OEInvoices table:
C#
string connectionString = "User=SAMPLE;Password=password;URL=http://127.0.0.1/Sage300WebApi/v1/-/;Company=SAMINC;"; using (Sage300Connection connection = new Sage300Connection(connectionString)) { Sage300DataAdapter dataAdapter = new Sage300DataAdapter( "SELECT InvoiceUniquifier, ApprovedLimit FROM OEInvoices", connection); DataTable table = new DataTable(); dataAdapter.Fill(table); Console.WriteLine("Contents of OEInvoices."); foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) { Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row["InvoiceUniquifier"], row["ApprovedLimit"]); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "User=SAMPLE;Password=password;URL=http://127.0.0.1/Sage300WebApi/v1/-/;Company=SAMINC;" Using connection As New Sage300Connection(connectionString) Dim dataAdapter As New Sage300DataAdapter("SELECT InvoiceUniquifier, ApprovedLimit FROM OEInvoices", connection) Dim table As New DataTable() dataAdapter.Fill(table) Console.WriteLine("Contents of OEInvoices.") For Each row As DataRow In table.Rows Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row("InvoiceUniquifier"), row("ApprovedLimit")) Next End Using
