Tableau Connector for IBM Cloud Object Storage

Build 24.0.9060

ProxyAutoDetect

When this connection property is set to True, the provider checks your system proxy settings for existing proxy server configurations (no need to manually supply proxy server details). Set to False if you want to manually configure the provider to connect to a specific proxy server.

Data Type

bool

Default Value

false

Remarks

This connection property takes precedence over other proxy settings, so you'll need to set ProxyAutoDetect to False in order to use custom proxy settings.

When this property is set to True, the proxy to use is determined by checking these locations, in this order. If the proxy can't be determined in one place, the connector checks the next.

  1. The connector performs a search from the JVM properties (http.proxy, https.proxy, socksProxy, etc.).
  2. In the case that the JVM properties don't exist, the connector performs a search in java.home/lib/net.properties.
  3. In the case that java.net.useSystemProxies is set to True, the connector performs a search in the SystemProxy.
  4. On Windows, the proxy settings are read from the Internet Options in the registry, specifically the registry key HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\. On Windows 10 and later, this corresponds to the Proxy Settings found in the Windows Settings.

Note that these settings apply only to the current user of the machine. If you're running an application as a service, the connector will not read your own user's settings. You must instead manually supply the proxy settings in the connector's connection properties.

To connect to an HTTP proxy, see ProxyServer. For other proxies, such as SOCKS or tunneling, see FirewallType.
