Before You Connect
Before you can connect to IBM Cloud Object Storage, you need to register a IBM Cloud Object Storage instance, then find and note your IBM Cloud Object Storage API Key and CRN.
Registering a New Instance of Cloud Object Storage
If you do not already have Cloud Object Storage in your IBM Cloud account, install an instance of SQL Query in your account as follows:
- Log in to your IBM Cloud account.
- Navigate to the Cloud Object Storage page.
- Choose a name for your instance.
- Click Create. The Cloud Object Storage console immediately redirects you to the Cloud Object Storage instance you just created.
Obtaining the API Key
To obtain your ApiKey:- Log in to your IBM Cloud account.
- Navigate to the Platform API Keys page.
- On the middle-right corner, click Create an IBM Cloud API Key to create a new API Key.
- In the pop-up window, specify the API Key name.
- Click Create.
Note: The API Key is only displayed once, so record it in a safe place for future use.
Obtaining the Cloud Object Storage CRN
By default, the cmdlet automatically attempts to determine the Cloud Object Storage CRN. However, if you have multiple accounts, you must explicitly specify the CloudObjectStorageCRN when you connect to IBM Cloud Object Storage.To obtain the Cloud Object Storage CRN, do one of the following:
- Query the Services view. The server returns a list of all your IBM Cloud Object Storage instances, along with the CRN for each.
- Locate the CRN directly in IBM Cloud by navigating to your IBM Cloud Dashboard. In the Resource List, under Storage, select your Cloud Object Storage resource. The resource's CRN displays.
