The CData Sync App provides a straightforward way to continuously pipeline your SAP SuccessFactors data to any database, data lake, or data warehouse, making it easily available for Analytics, Reporting, AI, and Machine Learning.
The SAP SuccessFactors connector can be used from the CData Sync application to pull data from SAP SuccessFactors and move it to any of the supported destinations.
The driver connects to SAP SuccessFactors versions 1.0.0, and connects through the OData V2 API.

You can authenticate to SAP SuccessFactors using Basic authentication, Azure AD authentication, or OAuth authentication (preferred).
Be aware that in Basic authentication, after your first request to connect, SAP SuccessFactors uses cookies to reuse the session. For all subsequent connection requests, authentication is accomplished using cookies returned from SAP SuccessFactors.

Note: SAP SuccessFactors does not retrieve a refresh token as part of the API response, therefore it is not surfaced. Instead, the provider uses the expiration time of the access token to detect when to initiate the process of obtaining a new token.

This section details a selection of advanced features of the SAP SuccessFactors Sync App.
The Sync App supports the use of user defined views, virtual tables whose contents are decided by a pre-configured user defined query. These views are useful when you cannot directly control queries being issued to the drivers. For an overview of creating and configuring custom views, see User Defined Views .
Use SSL Configuration to adjust how Sync App handles TLS/SSL certificate negotiations. You can choose from various certificate formats;. For further information, see the SSLServerCert property under "Connection String Options" .

By default, the Sync App attempts to negotiate TLS with the server. The server certificate is validated against the default system trusted certificate store. You can override how the certificate gets validated using the SSLServerCert connection property.

The CData Sync App models SAP SuccessFactors entities in relational Tables, Views, and Stored Procedures. The table definitions are dynamically obtained from the OData service you connect to. Any changes in the metadata, such as added or removed columns or changes in data type, can be loaded by reconnecting.
The Sync App models the writable entity sets and singletons described in the service metadata document as bidirectional Tables.
Some OData entities can only be accessed through Navigation Properties. By default, the Sync App models navigation properties as separate views. See Views for more information on querying navigation properties.
Stored Procedures are function-like interfaces to the data source. They can be used to search, update, and modify information in the data source.
The Sync App exposes tables for every entity set and singleton defined on the OData service document. Entities on these tables may be inserted, updated, or deleted using standard SQL insert, update, or delete statements.
The Sync App supports OData deep inserts, in which you simultaneously create a base entity and link it to related entities, by specifying navigation properties. To specify Navigation Properties for an entity, you create a temporary table for the navigation property and then reference the temporary table in the insert to the base table. Reference the temporary table in the appropriate navigation property column on the base table. Each navigation property column is prefixed with the word "Linked".
Note that you must define the temporary tables and insert to the base entity within the same connection.
For example, consider the ExternalUser table. When creating an ExternalUser, you may also specify an ExtAddressInfo, ExtEmailInfo, ExtPersonalInfo, and ExtPhoneInfo. To do so, you can specify the following navigation properties.

By default, the Sync App models Navigation Properties as separate views. The views are named in the format ParentTable_NavigationProperty.
For an example of working with a navigation property as a view, the JobApplication entity has a lot of navigation properties. We will look at the "education" navigation property. The CData Sync App will display a view called JobApplication_education. Retrieving data from JobApplication_education will display the JobApplicationSnapshot_Education object associated with a given JobApplication. The JobApplication_education view has a primary key made up of the Id of the parent entity and the Id of the related entity.

This property determines when to use SSL for the connection to the HTTP proxy specified by ProxyServer. You can set this connection property to the following values :

This property sets an upper limit on the number of rows the Sync App returns for queries that do not include aggregation or GROUP BY clauses. This limit ensures that queries do not return excessively large result sets by default.
When a query includes a LIMIT clause, the value specified in the query takes precedence over the MaxRows setting. If MaxRows is set to "-1", no row limit is enforced unless a LIMIT clause is explicitly included in the query.
This property is useful for optimizing performance and preventing excessive resource consumption when executing queries that could otherwise return very large datasets.

PurgeType is an optional parameter that determines whether an incremental or full update will be performed on an entity.

Mandatory Field Governance During Upsert Since a full purge erases all existing data of an entry and creates new data, it follows the mandatory fields governance of the entity. Whether an entry exists or not in the database, you must provide all required fields in your OData Operations payload to be able to successfully upsert the entry.
Specifies the maximum time, in seconds, that the provider waits for a server response before throwing a timeout error. The default is 60 seconds. Set to 0 to disable the timeout.
This property controls the maximum time, in seconds, that the Sync App waits for an operation to complete before canceling it. If the timeout period expires before the operation finishes, the Sync App cancels the operation and throws an exception.
The timeout applies to each individual communication with the server rather than the entire query or operation. For example, a query could continue running beyond 60 seconds if each paging call completes within the timeout limit.
Setting this property to 0 disables the timeout, allowing operations to run indefinitely until they succeed or fail due to other conditions such as server-side timeouts, network interruptions, or resource limits on the server. Use this property cautiously to avoid long-running operations that could degrade performance or result in unresponsive behavior.
Whether or not the CData ADO.NET Provider for SAP SuccessFactors should use client side paging.
Some sources do not support server side paging. In these cases, set UseClientSidePaging to true. Otherwise, leave it as false. Setting UseClientSidePaging to true on a source that already supports paging can cause incomplete results.
Whether or not the provider should automatically add the 'FromDate' and 'ToDate' filters to tables that support effective dates.
Some SuccessFactors entities are controlled by effective Dating. Effective Dating means that information records capture time as part of the data record that is stored in SAP SuccessFactors by setting UseEffectiveDate to true the CData Sync App will automatically append the [FromDate='1900-01-01'] and [ToDate='9999-12-31'] filters to the tables that support effective dating.
Boolean determining whether or not to use SAP labels for picklist options.
If set to true, the labels that have been configured for the picklist options, will be pushed in a separate column. The column will have the name of the picklist field followed by _label. To achieve this, the Sync App will retrieve and store a list of all picklist options and their labels, which could be costly depending on the number of picklist options the SAP SuccessFactors has.
Specifies a filepath to a JSON configuration file defining custom views. The provider automatically detects and uses the views specified in this file.
This property allows you to define and manage custom views through a JSON-formatted configuration file called UserDefinedViews.json. These views are automatically recognized by the Sync App and enable you to execute custom SQL queries as if they were standard database views. The JSON file defines each view as a root element with a child element called "query", which contains the SQL query for the view. For example:

You can define multiple views in a single file and specify the filepath using this property. For example: UserDefinedViews=C:\Path\To\UserDefinedViews.json. When you use this property, only the specified views are seen by the Sync App.
