Establishing a Connection
Creating a JDBC Data Source
You can create a JDBC data source to connect from your Java application. Creating a JDBC data source based on the CData JDBC Driver for Act! CRM consists of three basic steps:
- Add the driver JAR file to the classpath. The JAR file is located in the lib subfolder of the installation directory. Note that the .lic file must be located in the same folder as the JAR file.
- Provide the driver class. For example:
cdata.jdbc.actcrm.ActCRMDriver
- Provide the JDBC URL. For example:
jdbc:actcrm:URL=https://myActCRMserver.com;User=myUser;Password=myPassword;ActDatabase=MyDB; or jdbc:cdata:actcrm:URL=https://myActCRMserver.com;User=myUser;Password=myPassword;ActDatabase=MyDB;
The second format above can be used whenever there is a conflict in your application between drivers using the same URL format to ensure you are using the CData driver. The URL must start with either "jdbc:actcrm:" or "jdbc:cdata:actcrm:" and can include any of the connection properties in name-value pairs separated with semicolons.
Connecting to Act! CRM
You can connect to either Act! CRM or Act! Premium Cloud. Set the following to connect:
- User: The username used to authenticate to the Act! database.
- Password: The password used to authenticate to the Act! database.
- URL: The URL where the Act! CRM account is hosted. For example: http://serverName/.
- ActDatabase: The name of the Act! database you want to connect to. This is found by going to the About Act! Premium menu of your account, found at the top right of the page, in the ? menu. Use the Database Name in the window that appears.
- ActCloudRegion (Act! Premium Cloud only): The Region of the Act! Premium Cloud account.
Caching Metadata
Note that retrieving ActCRM metadata can be expensive. It is advised that you set the CacheMetadata property to store the metadata locally.
