ADO.NET Provider for Oracle Sales

Build 24.0.9060

Querying with the DataAdapter

The CData ADO.NET Provider for Oracle Sales implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Oracle Sales: OracleSalesCloudDataAdapter and OracleSalesCloudDataReader objects. Whereas OracleSalesCloudDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, OracleSalesCloudDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.

Using the OracleSalesCloudDataAdapter

Use the adapter's Fill method to retrieve data from the data source. An empty DataTable instance is passed as an argument to the Fill method. When the method returns, the DataTable instance is populated with the queried data. Note that the OracleSalesCloudDataAdapter is slower than the OracleSalesCloudDataReader because the Fill method needs to retrieve all data from the data source before returning.

The following example selects the OptyId and Name columns of the Opportunities table:

C#

string connectionString = "HostURL=https://my.host.oraclecloud.com; Username=abc123; Password=abcdef;";

using (OracleSalesCloudConnection connection = new OracleSalesCloudConnection(connectionString)) {
  OracleSalesCloudDataAdapter dataAdapter = new OracleSalesCloudDataAdapter(
  "SELECT OptyId, Name FROM Opportunities", connection);

  DataTable table = new DataTable();
  dataAdapter.Fill(table);

  Console.WriteLine("Contents of Opportunities.");

  foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) {
    Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row["OptyId"], row["Name"]);
  }
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As String = "HostURL=https://my.host.oraclecloud.com; Username=abc123; Password=abcdef;"

Using connection As New OracleSalesCloudConnection(connectionString)
  Dim dataAdapter As New OracleSalesCloudDataAdapter("SELECT OptyId, Name FROM Opportunities", connection)

  Dim table As New DataTable()
  dataAdapter.Fill(table)

  Console.WriteLine("Contents of Opportunities.")

  For Each row As DataRow In table.Rows
    Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row("OptyId"), row("Name"))
  Next
End Using
