Updating Data

The following code examples show how to use data modification statements.

Procedure for Updates

You can use separate statements to execute data modification statements. Once you create the statement, you can call its executeNonQueryMethod and retrieve the number of affected rows.

INSERT

To insert updates:

db.open("...", (err) => {
    db.prepare("INSERT INTO Opportunities(Name) VALUES ('Residential Oppty')", (err, stmt) => {
        stmt.executeNonQuery((err, affected) => {
            console.log("Affected: " + affected);
        });
    });
});

UPDATE

To retrieve updates:

db.open("...", (err) => {
    db.prepare("UPDATE Opportunities SET Name = 'Residential Oppty' WHERE OptyId = 'Jack'", (err, stmt) => {
        stmt.executeNonQuery((err, affected) => {
            console.log("Affected: " + affected);
        });
    });
});

DELETE

To delete updates:

db.open("...", (err) => {
    db.prepare("DELETE FROM Opportunities WHERE Id = '300000002693011'", (err, stmt) => {
        stmt.executeNonQuery((err, affected) => {
            console.log("Affected: " + affected);
        });
    });
});
