Procedure for Updates

You can use odbc_exec to execute data modification statements. This will return a resource which contains the number of affected rows.

INSERT

To insert updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "INSERT INTO [CData].[Entities].Customers (CompanyName) VALUES ('Caterpillar')");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);

UPDATE

To retrieve updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "UPDATE [CData].[Entities].Customers SET CompanyName = 'Caterpillar' WHERE Country = 'US'");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);

DELETE

To delete updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "DELETE FROM [CData].[Entities].Customers WHERE _id = '22'");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);
