UseSSL
This property sets whether the provider attempts to negotiate TLS/SSL connections to the server.
Data Type
bool
Default Value
false
Remarks
This property sets whether the add-in attempts to negotiate TLS/SSL connections to the server.
When set to false, (the default), for compatibility with the previous method of specifying the protocol prefix in the Server property, the add-in category respects the protocol behavior set in Server, and then uses the protocol dictated by UseSSL=False. NOTE: This means that if you set UseSSL=False, but also specify Server="https://localhost", the add-in attempts to connect and communicate over HTTPS, despite UseSSL being set to False.
When UseSSL is set to true, the add-in attempts to strictly follow the property's specification, and it throws an exception if there is a conflict with the specification in Server. For example, if you set UseSSL=true, but specify Server as "http://localhost", the add-in generates an exception.
Differences between the new and the old method:
In the new method, Server should now just specify server name, domain name, IP address, or similar. For the previous method of specifying Server as a combination of protocol prefix and hostname, like "http://localhost", this now maps to Server being set to "localhost", and UseSSL to false;. What was formerly set to Server="https://localhost" now maps to Server="localhost";UseSSL=true;.
New users of the driver are encouraged to not specify a protocol in Server.
