Tableau Connector for MongoDB

Build 23.0.8839

Getting Started

The CData Tableau Connector for MongoDB is built on top of a JDBC driver. This section discusses how to install the connector, set up a data source, and connect from Tableau.

Installing the Connector

Installing the Connector describes how to install the CData Tableau Connector for MongoDB.

Connecting from Tableau

Configuring a Connection shows how to create a MongoDB Data Source from Tableau's Connect To Server window.

Tableau Version Support

The connector supports Tableau Desktop 2020.1 or later and Tableau Prep 2020.4.1 or later. Versions between 2020.1 and 2020.3 of Tableau Desktop are supported via the legacy connector file (cdata.mongodb.legacy.taco) and versions 2020.3 and higher are supported using the modern connector file (cdata.mongodb.taco).

For older versions of Tableau, use the CData ODBC Driver for MongoDB or the CData JDBC Driver for MongoDB to connect.

MongoDB Version Support

The connector models MongoDB instances as relational databases and supports MongoDB versions 2.6 through 5.0. The connector leverages the MongoDB API, including the MongoDB aggregation framework, to enable bidirectional SQL access to MongoDB data. See the NoSQL Database chapter for SQL-to-MongoDB query mappings and more information about accessing unstructured data in MongoDB through SQL. See the DBaaS Connections page to connect to popular services such as Atlas and ObjectRocket.
