Querying with the DataAdapter
The CData ADO.NET Provider for Microsoft Office 365 implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from Microsoft Office 365: Office365DataAdapter and Office365DataReader objects. Whereas Office365DataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, Office365DataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the Office365DataAdapter
Use the adapter's Fill method to retrieve data from the data source. An empty DataTable instance is passed as an argument to the Fill method. When the method returns, the DataTable instance is populated with the queried data. Note that the Office365DataAdapter is slower than the Office365DataReader because the Fill method needs to retrieve all data from the data source before returning.
The following example selects the Id and location_displayName columns of the Events table:
C#
string connectionString = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;OAuthClientId=MyApplicationId;OAuthClientSecret=MySecretKey;CallbackURL=http://localhost:33333;"; using (Office365Connection connection = new Office365Connection(connectionString)) { Office365DataAdapter dataAdapter = new Office365DataAdapter( "SELECT Id, location_displayName FROM Events", connection); DataTable table = new DataTable(); dataAdapter.Fill(table); Console.WriteLine("Contents of Events."); foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) { Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row["Id"], row["location_displayName"]); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;OAuthClientId=MyApplicationId;OAuthClientSecret=MySecretKey;CallbackURL=http://localhost:33333;" Using connection As New Office365Connection(connectionString) Dim dataAdapter As New Office365DataAdapter("SELECT Id, location_displayName FROM Events", connection) Dim table As New DataTable() dataAdapter.Fill(table) Console.WriteLine("Contents of Events.") For Each row As DataRow In table.Rows Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row("Id"), row("location_displayName")) Next End Using
