Getting Started
The CData Tableau Connector for Microsoft Dynamics NAV is built on top of a JDBC driver. This section discusses how to install the connector, set up a data source, and connect from Tableau.
Installing the Connector
Installing the Connector describes how to install the CData Tableau Connector for Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Connecting from Tableau
Configuring a Connection shows how to create a Microsoft Dynamics NAV Data Source from Tableau's Connect To Server window.
Tableau Version Support
The connector supports Tableau Desktop 2020.1 or later and Tableau Prep 2020.4.1 or later. Versions between 2020.1 and 2020.3 of Tableau Desktop are supported via the legacy connector file (cdata.dynamicsnav.legacy.taco) and versions 2020.3 and higher are supported using the modern connector file (cdata.dynamicsnav.taco).
For older versions of Tableau, use the CData ODBC Driver for Microsoft Dynamics NAV or the CData JDBC Driver for Microsoft Dynamics NAV to connect.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV Version Support
The connector supports read/write access to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013+ through OData Web services. To access data through the API, you will need to publish the pages you want to work with as Web services: In the Web or Windows Dynamics NAV client, search for 'Web services.' To add a page to the list of the pages exposed, select the Object Type and Object Id.
