Procedure for Updates

You can use odbc_exec to execute data modification statements. This will return a resource which contains the number of affected rows.

INSERT

To insert updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "INSERT INTO Contacts (GivenName) VALUES ('John')");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);

UPDATE

To retrieve updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "UPDATE Contacts SET GivenName = 'John' WHERE BusinessAddress_City = 'Raleigh'");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);

DELETE

To delete updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "DELETE FROM Contacts WHERE ItemId = 'AQMkAGRlMWQ5MDg0...'");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);
