CData Tableau Connector for Active Directory
The CData Tableau Connector for Active Directory offers self-service integration with Tableau. The connector facilitates live access to Active Directory data in Tableau using the connection window. The connector also provides direct querying to visualize and analyze Active Directory data.
The connector supports Tableau Desktop 2020.1 or later and Tableau Prep 2020.4.1 or later. For older versions of Tableau, the CData ODBC Driver for Active Directory or the CData JDBC Driver for Active Directory can serve as an alternative means of connecting to Active Directory data in Tableau.
See Getting Started for a guide to create a Active Directory Data Source in Tableau. The guide will walk you through Installing the Connector and then Configuring a Connection via the connection builder.
Once a connection has been configured, see Getting Data to set up a data source that offers live connectivity to Active Directory.
Advanced Features details additional features supported by the connector, such as defining user defined views, ssl configuration, remoting, caching, firewall/proxy settings, and advanced logging.
Using the Connector
Refer to Visualizing Data to create and work with Tableau visualizations.
See User Defined Views to construct virtual tables whose contents are determined by a pre-configured query, which will then be discovered among existing table metadata.
See Data Model for information on the available database objects and how to use SQL to work with Active Directory APIs. This section provides more detailed information on querying specific Active Directory entities.
