ADO.NET Provider for YouTube Analytics

Build 23.0.8839

Querying with the DataReader

The CData ADO.NET Provider for YouTube Analytics implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from YouTube Analytics: YouTubeAnalyticsDataAdapter and YouTubeAnalyticsDataReader objects. Whereas YouTubeAnalyticsDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, YouTubeAnalyticsDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.

Using the YouTubeAnalyticsDataReader

The YouTubeAnalyticsDataReader retrieves data faster than the YouTubeAnalyticsDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the YouTubeAnalyticsDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Groups table:

C#

string connectionString = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;ContentOwnerId=MyContentOwnerId;ChannelId=ChannelId;";

using (YouTubeAnalyticsConnection connection = new YouTubeAnalyticsConnection(connectionString)) {
  YouTubeAnalyticsCommand cmd = new YouTubeAnalyticsCommand("SELECT * FROM Groups", connection);

  YouTubeAnalyticsDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader();

  while (rdr.Read()) {
    Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["Snippet_Title"], rdr["ContentDetails_ItemType"]));
  }
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As String = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;ContentOwnerId=MyContentOwnerId;ChannelId=ChannelId;"

Using connection As New YouTubeAnalyticsConnection(connectionString)
  Dim cmd As New YouTubeAnalyticsCommand("SELECT * FROM Groups", connection)

  Dim rdr As YouTubeAnalyticsDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()

  While rdr.Read()
    Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("Snippet_Title"), rdr("ContentDetails_ItemType")))
  End While
End Using
