ADO.NET Provider for PayPal

Build 23.0.8839

Querying with the DataReader

The CData ADO.NET Provider for PayPal implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from PayPal: PayPalDataAdapter and PayPalDataReader objects. Whereas PayPalDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, PayPalDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.

Using the PayPalDataReader

The PayPalDataReader retrieves data faster than the PayPalDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the PayPalDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the Payments table:

C#

string connectionString = "Schema=REST;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;OAuthClientId=ClientId;OAuthClientSecret=ClientSecret; UseSandbox=true;";

using (PayPalConnection connection = new PayPalConnection(connectionString)) {
  PayPalCommand cmd = new PayPalCommand("SELECT * FROM Payments", connection);

  PayPalDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader();

  while (rdr.Read()) {
    Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["Id"], rdr["State"]));
  }
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As String = "Schema=REST;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;OAuthClientId=ClientId;OAuthClientSecret=ClientSecret; UseSandbox=true;"

Using connection As New PayPalConnection(connectionString)
  Dim cmd As New PayPalCommand("SELECT * FROM Payments", connection)

  Dim rdr As PayPalDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()

  While rdr.Read()
    Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("Id"), rdr("State")))
  End While
End Using
