Querying with the DataAdapter
The CData ADO.NET Provider for eBay implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from eBay: EbayDataAdapter and EbayDataReader objects. Whereas EbayDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, EbayDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the EbayDataAdapter
Use the adapter's Fill method to retrieve data from the data source. An empty DataTable instance is passed as an argument to the Fill method. When the method returns, the DataTable instance is populated with the queried data. Note that the EbayDataAdapter is slower than the EbayDataReader because the Fill method needs to retrieve all data from the data source before returning.
The following example selects the HitCount and Title columns of the ItemListing table:
C#
string connectionString = "DevID=MyDevID;OAuthClientId=MyAppID;OAuthClientSecret=MyCertID;RuName=MyRuName;SiteID=0;OAuthAccessToken=MyOAuthAccessToken"; using (EbayConnection connection = new EbayConnection(connectionString)) { EbayDataAdapter dataAdapter = new EbayDataAdapter( "SELECT HitCount, Title FROM ItemListing", connection); DataTable table = new DataTable(); dataAdapter.Fill(table); Console.WriteLine("Contents of ItemListing."); foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) { Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row["HitCount"], row["Title"]); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "DevID=MyDevID;OAuthClientId=MyAppID;OAuthClientSecret=MyCertID;RuName=MyRuName;SiteID=0;OAuthAccessToken=MyOAuthAccessToken" Using connection As New EbayConnection(connectionString) Dim dataAdapter As New EbayDataAdapter("SELECT HitCount, Title FROM ItemListing", connection) Dim table As New DataTable() dataAdapter.Fill(table) Console.WriteLine("Contents of ItemListing.") For Each row As DataRow In table.Rows Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", row("HitCount"), row("Title")) Next End Using
