Querying with the DataReader
The CData ADO.NET Provider for eBay implements two ADO.NET interfaces you can use to retrieve data from eBay: EbayDataAdapter and EbayDataReader objects. Whereas EbayDataAdapter objects retrieve a single result set of all the data that matches a query, EbayDataReader objects fetch data in subset increments as needed.
Using the EbayDataReader
The EbayDataReader retrieves data faster than the EbayDataAdapter because it can retrieve data in pages. As you read data from the EbayDataReader, it periodically requests the next page of results from the data source, if required. This causes results to be returned at a faster rate. The following example selects all the columns from the ItemListing table:
C#
string connectionString = "DevID=MyDevID;OAuthClientId=MyAppID;OAuthClientSecret=MyCertID;RuName=MyRuName;SiteID=0;OAuthAccessToken=MyOAuthAccessToken"; using (EbayConnection connection = new EbayConnection(connectionString)) { EbayCommand cmd = new EbayCommand("SELECT * FROM ItemListing", connection); EbayDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); while (rdr.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(String.Format("\t{0} --> \t\t{1}", rdr["HitCount"], rdr["Title"])); } }
VB.NET
Dim connectionString As String = "DevID=MyDevID;OAuthClientId=MyAppID;OAuthClientSecret=MyCertID;RuName=MyRuName;SiteID=0;OAuthAccessToken=MyOAuthAccessToken" Using connection As New EbayConnection(connectionString) Dim cmd As New EbayCommand("SELECT * FROM ItemListing", connection) Dim rdr As EbayDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() While rdr.Read() Console.WriteLine([String].Format(vbTab & "{0} --> " & vbTab & vbTab & "{1}", rdr("HitCount"), rdr("Title"))) End While End Using
