Tableau Connector for Box

Build 23.0.8839

General Changes

  • Changed delimiter of TemplateValues in AddMetadataTemplatesToFile stored procedure from comma to semicolon.
  • Added the SignRequestPayloadPath parameter to the CreateSignRequest stored procedure for creating a Box sign request with the HTTP request payload read from the absolute file path specified in the parameter. This replaces the previous functionality intended for the same purpose which was triggered by the SignRequestPayload parameter.
  • Added RecentItems view for listing recent items.
  • Added Collections view for listing all collections.
  • Added CreateSignRequest stored procedure for creating Box sign requests.
  • Added SignRequests view for listing all sign requests.
  • Added ExposeCollectionViews connection property for exposing collections as seperate views. These views can be used to retrieve the metadata of files and folder in the corresponding collection.
  • Added AsUserId connection property for user impersonation. This functionality is also available through columns/pseudo-columns across the data model with the same name. The value specified in the column/pseudo-column takes higher precendence than the value specified in the connection property.
  • The ROUND function doesn't accept the negative precision values anymore.

  • The returning types of the FDMonth, FDQuarter, FDWeek, LDMonth, LDQuarter, LDWeek functions are changed from Timestamp to Date.
  • The return type of the ABS function will be consistent with the parameter value type.
  • Added support for server-side authentication with JWT using the JSON configuration of a custom JWT Box application with the BOXJSON option in OAuthJWTCertType connection property.
  • BOXJSONBLOB option is just like BOXJSON but with the JSON configuration taken from the connection string.
  • Added support for the RestoreItem stored procedure. It restores a trashed item (file/folder) by providing an itemId and a itemType
  • Added the AdditionalDetails column to the UserEvents view.
  • Added the new sys_lastresultinfo system table.
  • Removed support for the SELECT INTO CSV statement. The core code doesn't support it anymore.
  • Added the Default column to the sys_procedureparameters table.
  • Added UpdateFile and DeleteFile Stored procedures
  • Added support for additional localizations in the Windows and Mac packages. Both setups now support all the languages that Tableau supports as of their 2022.2 release.
  • Added the IsPath column to the sys_procedureparameters table.
  • Added binary output and encoded content support for DownloadFile. Added FileStream as an input, and FileData as an output.
  • Added binary output and encoded content support for CreateSchema. Added FileStream as an input, and FileData as an output.
  • Added support for impersonating multiple users at the same time.
  • Added binary input support for upload stored procedures.
  • Added Content, FileName, CreatedAt, ModifiedAt, Hash as inputs and VersionId, Hash, Etag as outputs for UploadFile.
  • Added Content, ModifiedAt, Hash, IfMatch as inputs and VersionId, Hash, Etag as outputs for UploadFileVersion.
  • Updated connection dialogs to use advanced configuration information provided by drivers. This makes use of the same information as the new dialogs in other editions (like ODBC) to display only the most relevant connection properties.
  • Legacy connectors have been simplified to look more like Tableau JDBC dialogs. Legacy connectors target older Tableau versions which do not support rich connection dialogs like the modern connectors do. Most connectors cannot fit within these limitations.
  • Added the FileMetadataInstances view.
  • Added the ClassificationName column to the UserEvents table.
  • Added support for the STRING_SPLIT table-valued function in the CROSS APPLY clause.
  • Added the KeySeq column to the sys_foreignkeys table.
  • Added the new sys_primarykeys system table.
  • Updated the Literal Function Names for relative date/datetime functions. Previously, relative date/datetime functions resolved to a different value when used in the projection as opposed to the predicate. For example: SELECT LAST_MONTH() AS lm, Col FROM Table WHERE Col > LAST_MONTH(). Formerly, the two LAST_MONTH() methods would resolve to different datetimes. Now, they will match.
  • As a replacement for the previous behavior, the relative date/datetime functions in the criteria may have an 'L' appended to them. For example: WHERE col > L_LAST_MONTH(). This will continue to resolve to the same values that were previously calculated in the criteria. Note that the "L_" prefix will only work in the predicate - it not available for the projection.
  • Added support for handling client side formulas during insert / update. For example: UPDATE Table SET Col1 = CONCAT(Col1, " - ", Col2) WHERE Col2 LIKE 'A%'
  • Updated how display sizes are determined for varchar primary key and foreign key columns so they will match the reported length of the column.
  • Non-conditional updates between two columns is now available to all drivers. For example: UPDATE Table SET Col1=Col2
  • Reduced the length to 255 for varchar primary key and foreign key columns.

  • Updated index naming convention to avoid duplicates.
  • Updated implicit and metadata caching to improve performance and support for multiple connections. Old metadata caches are not compatible - you need to generate new metadata caches if you are currently using CacheMetadata.
  • Improved the connection dialog configuration experience.
  • Custom fields in the Files table will now be listed as {Scope}_{Template}_{Key} to avoid collisions.
