Creating a Custom OAuth App

When to Create a Custom OAuth App

Creating a custom OAuth app is required in the web flow. Creating a custom OAuth app is optional for desktop and headless applications; the component is already registered with Act-On and you can connect with its embedded credentials.

You might want to create a custom OAuth app to change the information displayed when users log into the Act-On OAuth endpoint to grant permissions to the component.

Follow the steps below to create a custom OAuth app and obtain the connection properties in a specific OAuth authentication flow.

Create a Custom OAuth App: Desktop

Sign up to https://developer.act-on.com/provision/. After registering your account on Act-On you will get an email with the following connection properties:

  • OAuthClientId
  • OAuthClientSecret
The default value for the callback URL is http://localhost:80. If you would like to change it you need to contact the API support for Act-On.

Create a Custom OAuth App: Web Apps

Sign up to https://developer.act-on.com/provision/. After registering your account on Act-On you will get an email with the following connection properties:

  • OAuthClientId
  • OAuthClientSecret
Set the Redirect URI to a page on your website where you would like the user to be returned after the user grants permissions to your app.

Create a Custom OAuth App: Headless Machines

Sign up to https://developer.act-on.com/provision/. After registering your account on Act-On you will get an email with the following connection properties:

  • OAuthClientId
  • OAuthClientSecret
The default value for the callback URL is http://localhost:80. If you would like to change it you need to contact the API support for Act-On.
