ODBC Driver for SurveyMonkey

Build 22.0.8462

macOS DSN Configuration

This section shows how to set up ODBC connectivity and configure DSNs on macOS.

Minimum macOS Version

The CData ODBC Driver for SurveyMonkey driver requires macOS Sierra (10.12) or above.

Licensing the Driver

In a terminal, run the following commands to license the driver. To activate a trial, omit the <key> input.

cd "/Applications/CData ODBC Driver for SurveyMonkey/bin"
sudo ./install-license.sh <key>

You'll be prompted for a name and password. These refer to your name and your machine's password.

SurveyMonkey uses the OAuth 2 authentication standard. The account whose surveys will be read must have a paid plan subscription, given that SurveyMonkey requires this to read survey responses.

There are two authentication methods available for connecting to SurveyMonkey:

  • Using the Personal Access Token, when you are registering a private oauth application.
  • Using OAuth, when you are registering a public oauth application.

Using the Personal Access Token

Use the personal token to test and to access your own data. To obtain the personal token, follow the steps found in Creating a Custom OAuth App and set the following connection properties:

  • AuthScheme: Set this to AccessToken.
  • AccessToken: Set this to the AccessToken generated in your app settings.

Using OAuth

The driver is already registered with SurveyMonkey as an OAuth application. As such, it will, by default, automatically use its Embedded Credentials to connect.

If you would prefer to use your own custom OAuth app, see Custom Credentials.

Uninstalling the Driver

The easiest way to uninstall the driver is to open a terminal and run the included uninstall.sh script, located in the installation directory. For example:

cd "/Applications/CData ODBC Driver for SurveyMonkey"
sudo ./uninstall.sh

Note: The script needs to be run from the installation directory.
