SELECT INTO Statements

You can use the SELECT INTO statement to export formatted data to a file.

Data Export with an SQL Query

The following query exports data into a file formatted in comma-separated values (CSV):

C#

String connectionString = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;";

using (AzureDataManagementConnection connection = new AzureDataManagementConnection(connectionString)) {
  AzureDataManagementCommand cmd = new AzureDataManagementCommand("SELECT DisplayName, AuthorizationSource INTO [csv://Subscriptions.txt] FROM [Subscriptions] WHERE SubscriptionId = 'fadc4-4cdaf-fadc4-4cdaf' ", connection);
  int rowsAffected = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As [String] = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;"

Using connection As New AzureDataManagementConnection(connectionString)
  Dim cmd As New AzureDataManagementCommand("SELECT DisplayName, AuthorizationSource INTO [csv://Subscriptions.txt] FROM [Subscriptions] WHERE SubscriptionId = 'fadc4-4cdaf-fadc4-4cdaf'", connection)
  Dim rowsAffected As Integer = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
End Using
You can specify other file formats in the URI. The following example exports tab-separated values:

C#

String connectionString = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;";

using (AzureDataManagementConnection connection = new AzureDataManagementConnection(connectionString)) {
  AzureDataManagementCommand cmd = new AzureDataManagementCommand("SELECT * INTO [Subscriptions] IN [csv://filename=c:/Subscriptions.csv;delimiter=tab] FROM [Subscriptions] WHERE SubscriptionId = 'fadc4-4cdaf-fadc4-4cdaf'", connection);
  int rowsAffected = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As [String] = "InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;"

Using connection As New AzureDataManagementConnection(connectionString)
  Dim cmd As New AzureDataManagementCommand("SELECT * INTO [Subscriptions] IN [csv://filename=c:/Subscriptions.csv;delimiter=tab] FROM [Subscriptions] WHERE SubscriptionId = 'fadc4-4cdaf-fadc4-4cdaf'", connection)
  Dim rowsAffected As Integer = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
End Using
