The CData ODBC Driver for Microsoft SharePoint Excel is a standards-based ODBC driver with editions for Windows and Unix-based operating systems, like macOS and Linux. The following sections show how to create an ODBC data source and query data.

Creating a DSN on Your Platform

The following guides show how to use the standard tools to configure data source names (DSN).

Excel Services Version Support

The driver supports retrieving Excel data from SharePoint On-Premises through the REST API and through the OData API introduced in SharePoint 2013. Excel files must have the .xlsx format used in Excel 2007 and later.

Note: Microsoft has stated that they plan to sunset the Excel Services API for SharePoint Online in February 2022. Please consider migrating to the CData driver for Excel Online for future access to your SharePoint data.
