SELECT INTO Statements

You can use the SELECT INTO statement to export formatted data to a file.

Data Export with an SQL Query

The following query exports data into a file formatted in comma-separated values (CSV):

SELECT actor.attributes.email, repository.name INTO [csv://[publicdata].[samples].github_nested.txt] FROM [[publicdata].[samples].github_nested] WHERE repository.name = 'EntityFramework'
You can specify other formats in the file URI. The possible delimiters are tab, semicolon, and comma with the default being a comma. The following example exports tab-separated values:
SELECT actor.attributes.email, repository.name INTO [csv://[publicdata].[samples].github_nested.txt;delimiter=tab] FROM [[publicdata].[samples].github_nested] WHERE repository.name = 'EntityFramework'

C#

String connectionString = "ProjectId=NameOfProject;DatasetId=NameOfDataset;";

using (GoogleBigQueryConnection connection = new GoogleBigQueryConnection(connectionString)) {
  GoogleBigQueryCommand cmd = new GoogleBigQueryCommand("SELECT actor.attributes.email, repository.name INTO [csv://[publicdata].[samples].github_nested.txt] FROM [[publicdata].[samples].github_nested] WHERE repository.name = 'EntityFramework' ", connection);
  int rowsAffected = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As [String] = "ProjectId=NameOfProject;DatasetId=NameOfDataset;"

Using connection As New GoogleBigQueryConnection(connectionString)
  Dim cmd As New GoogleBigQueryCommand("SELECT actor.attributes.email, repository.name INTO [csv://[publicdata].[samples].github_nested.txt] FROM [[publicdata].[samples].github_nested] WHERE repository.name = 'EntityFramework'", connection)
  Dim rowsAffected As Integer = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
End Using
You can specify other file formats in the URI. The following example exports tab-separated values:

C#

String connectionString = "ProjectId=NameOfProject;DatasetId=NameOfDataset;";

using (GoogleBigQueryConnection connection = new GoogleBigQueryConnection(connectionString)) {
  GoogleBigQueryCommand cmd = new GoogleBigQueryCommand("SELECT * INTO [[publicdata].[samples].github_nested] IN [csv://filename=c:/[publicdata].[samples].github_nested.csv;delimiter=tab] FROM [[publicdata].[samples].github_nested] WHERE repository.name = 'EntityFramework'", connection);
  int rowsAffected = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
}

VB.NET

Dim connectionString As [String] = "ProjectId=NameOfProject;DatasetId=NameOfDataset;"

Using connection As New GoogleBigQueryConnection(connectionString)
  Dim cmd As New GoogleBigQueryCommand("SELECT * INTO [[publicdata].[samples].github_nested] IN [csv://filename=c:/[publicdata].[samples].github_nested.csv;delimiter=tab] FROM [[publicdata].[samples].github_nested] WHERE repository.name = 'EntityFramework'", connection)
  Dim rowsAffected As Integer = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
End Using
