Procedure for Updates

You can use odbc_exec to execute data modification statements. This will return a resource which contains the number of affected rows.

INSERT

To insert updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "INSERT INTO [publicdata].[samples].github_nested(repository.name) VALUES ('CoreCLR')");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);

UPDATE

To retrieve updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "UPDATE [publicdata].[samples].github_nested SET repository.name = 'CoreCLR' WHERE repository.name = 'EntityFramework'");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);

DELETE

To delete updates:

$result = odbc_exec($cnx, "DELETE FROM [publicdata].[samples].github_nested WHERE Id = '1'");
$affected = odbc_num_rows($result);
