Modifying Data

The following code examples show how to use data modification statements.

Procedure for Updates

You can use separate statements to execute data modification statements. Once you create the statement, you can call its executeNonQueryMethod and retrieve the number of affected rows.

INSERT

To insert updates:

db.open("...", (err) => {
    db.prepare("INSERT INTO TradingAccounts(Name) VALUES ('Smith')", (err, stmt) => {
        stmt.executeNonQuery((err, affected) => {
            console.log("Affected: " + affected);
        });
    });
});

UPDATE

To retrieve updates:

db.open("...", (err) => {
    db.prepare("UPDATE TradingAccounts SET Name = 'Smith' WHERE TradingAccountUUID = 'c2ef66a5-a545-413b-9312-79a53caadbc4'", (err, stmt) => {
        stmt.executeNonQuery((err, affected) => {
            console.log("Affected: " + affected);
        });
    });
});

DELETE

To delete updates:

db.open("...", (err) => {
    db.prepare("DELETE FROM TradingAccounts WHERE TradingAccountUUID = 'c2ef66a5-a545-413b-9312-79a53caadbc4'", (err, stmt) => {
        stmt.executeNonQuery((err, affected) => {
            console.log("Affected: " + affected);
        });
    });
});
