Creating the Data Source Name

CData Power BI Connector for SugarCRM 2019 - Build 19.0.7354

This section describes how to edit the DSN configuration and then authenticate and connect to SugarCRM APIs.

Editing the DSN Configuration

You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to edit the DSN configuration. Note that the DSN is created during the installation process, as described in Installing the Connector.

Complete the following steps to edit the DSN configuration:

  1. Select Start > Search, and enter ODBC Data Sources in the Search box.
  2. Choose the version of the ODBC Administrator that corresponds to the bitness of your Power BI Desktop installation (32-bit or 64-bit).
  3. Click the System DSN tab.
  4. Select the system data source and click Configure.
  5. Edit the information on the Connection tab and click OK.

Authenticating to SugarCRM

To authenticate the connector to SugarCRM, the following must be set to valid SugarCRM user credentials:

  • User: The user of the SugarCRM account.
  • Password: The password of the SugarCRM account.

Connecting to SugarCRM

Additionally, specify the following to establish a connection to SugarCRM:

  • URL: Set this to the URL associated with the SugarCRM account in the form 'http://{sugar crm instance}.com'.
  • Platform: If you're encountering a login conflict during authentication, set this to one of the platforms that you have created in the SugarCRM UI.

Note that retrieving SugarCRM metadata can be expensive. It is advised that you store the metadata locally as described in Caching Metadata.

Next Step

See Getting Data for the next step, which is connecting to the data that you want to work with.
